Make the First Move Video Notes

Make 30 second version of audio.

Where are you located? Terrebonne.

What computing resources will you use for this project? You could use mine.

  1. No Adobe products. I have a history with that company.
  2. What would you use Blender and Unreal Engine for?
  3. Why Unreal Engine instead of Unity?
  4. Why Houdini and not TouchDesigner?

I definitely want all assets, and I do not want to pay licensing fees unless no other options exist. One of the rights I want is the right to create derivative work. Thus "All rights" cannot be exercised without physical possession. So points #4 and #5 contradict. How would the budget change with this in mind (#4)?

Wonderful! and absolutely.

1- Just as we spoke about it in the call, a 30 second loop to end up with the full 3 minute video

2- that would be perfect, mp3 or wav should work

3- the pipeline can vary but essentially: Blender, Unreal Engine 5, and Adobe suite for production and post, potentially Houdini if the art direction takes us there.

4- So Primary Deliverables are the: Final Rendered Videos (MP4 or MOV) and any Still Images needed from the final video.
  Project Files/3D Assets were not included in the budget;
since that was not discussed prior,
and while the pipeline includes open source softwares the process does include licenced plugins and other softwares that
ensure the best outcome for the project. If you require the project files for reusability and future editing,
this would be a different breakdown to ensure the best deliverable for the project. (for discussion and clarification)

5- Exactly to the point above, you would own the rights to the video and images to use in Canada and internationally.

6- Let's talk about this, it can be a powerful element in the video

7- So let's discuss this on thursday since animated people was not something taken into account prior,
but I am sure we can find the solution that works best for the project

8- Absolutely hence the suggestion of decay and growth, excited for thursday to share ideas and push the project forward

Looking forward to working on this project with you.

I am available for Thursday 11:00 am to have a video call.

Wishing you a lovely day and I will see you soon.

Best regards
Jad

  Jad,

A promising start! We have additional details to discuss before this becomes real:

  • You did not say how many seconds of finished video would be delivered for the stated price. I pay attention to the cost per second of finished video.
  • I have used Pro Tools to make the audio, and can deliver you stems in WAV or MP3s, or a mixdown to WAV or MP3.
  • What computing resources will you use for this project?
  • From you, I want a copy of all project files and a finished video. This project should use Davinci Resolve where appropriate. I would own all rights to all media created for this project in Canada and internationally.
  • The video also needs to be titled, and there needs to be a version with animated lyrics. I can do both of those tasks, or you could. Let's discuss.
  • Let's both think about the thematic footage needed to tell the story (how many segments, how long the segments should be, etc). I am leaning towards using animated people for the story footage, and also using processed footage of musicians playing the song.
  • Let's also think about the processing styles that might illuminate the message in a new and impactful way. The medium should be part of the message.
I look forward to our conversation at 11:00 AM Thursday.
