I wanted a portable second screen for my laptop. The Samsung Tab S8 Ultra tablet offers a high-resolution, compact and performant option as a second display for any Windows 10 or 11 computer with a USB-C port.

The USB-C cable provides power and video to the tablet, and relays user touch actions back to the Windows laptop as if they were mouse clicks.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra tablet has a 14.6-inch screen. The resolution is 2960 x 1848 pixels, also known as WQXGA+, which provides an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The display is Super AMOLED with a 120Hz refresh rate.

I installed the Samsung Second Screen from the Windows Store on my Windows 10 computer, and connected the laptop to the tablet with a USB C cable. On the tablet, I pulled down from the top right of the screen to enter setup, then I enabled Second Screen. Suddenly the Windows display was mirrored on the tablet.

Right-clicking on the Windows desktop allowed me to extend my Windows desktop to the tablet, instead of mirroring it.

Tablet settings continued to be available as usual by pulling down from the top right of the tablet. This allows you to control the screen brightness on the tablet.
